Bragging rights!

Hope everyone is enjoying the new slideshow. However tonight I bring you some more great news from my side of the planet.

Tonight my Lady Panthers pulled off the upset of the season thus far.  Yep we defeated the Vanden Lady Vikings by the score of 5-4!

Vanden is the #2 team in the league, they handed us a 7-2 loss 1st time we played them.  Not this round and NOTon our courts!  :O)  Here are the stats, and my letter to the local papers for printing.

My letter:

Nope no typo in this one. These Benicia Girls I've been saying all season were capable of playing with the best in the league. Tonight was our breakout night and we lived up to our capabilities! Lindsey played relentless in a defeat, I kid you not more points/rallies than not lasted in the 60 and some over 100 hits back and forth! 100 point rallies! Game of the Night! -->Ashley fell behind by 3 games in the 1st set and stayed patient working her way back in the set to take it 6-4 and went on to take the next one with the same score. (Big upset Jesika is one of the best players in the league)! Sam fell behind as well but changed her game to lob more and deeper, passing to the backhand when needed and went on to win. Brittany has found her game and played as I always knew she was capable of and won convincingly. 2nd Game of the Night goes to Celine for staying mentally strong when things looked bleak. She was up by 3 in the 1st. Lost the lead but fought back to a 6-4 win. Then fell behind by 3 in the 2nd but fought back to 4-4 eventually succumbing 4-6. The 3rd however was a fight. The set was on serve throughout until until Celine managed to get the last two games at 4-4 to win 6-4! With it tied at 4-4 it was up to our #2 doubles of Ryan and Claire and #3 doubles of Emily and Paru. Yesterdays practice was without a doubt the most focused practice we've had. The girls were hungry so we formulated a few doubles strategies that Ryan and Claire executed to perfection to seal the win with a 6-3 6-2 VICTORY! We preach play hard in practice you will play the same in a match and today we proved that to be true. I cant be more proud of the girls for their effort so now we have to keep the train a rolling. Vallejo Monday and then J.B. #2 on our court and we aim to win it.

Way To Go BHS Panthers!

Our local school was covered by major news this evening.  Game of the week featured the Wildcats of Will C. Wood defending home court against our/my beloved Benicia Panthers.  Big shout out to the A.D. and Head Football coach Mr. Holden.  Congrats Coach and great message.  Go Panthers!
